Exclusive: Arsenal well placed to land £15m windfall

Arsenal could be set to earn up to £15million from their pre-season tour of Asia, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League side kicked off the first of two fixtures at the Singapore National Stadium with a 1-0 win over AC Milan on Wednesday (23 July).

Bukayo Saka’s second-half goal was enough to earn the victory for the Gunners, with summer signings Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga all making their debuts for the club.

Arsenal will face Newcastle United on Sunday (27 July) as they continue to ramp up their preparations for the new season.

Mikel Arteta’s side will then travel to Hong Kong to take on north London rivals Tottenham at the Kai Tak Sports Park on Thursday (31 July).

Sources say Arsenal will bank at least £10million from their tour of Asia, with their overall earnings potentially reaching £15million.

The Gunners will also face La Liga sides Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates Stadium before heading to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in their season-opener on 17 August.

Arsenal close in on Viktor Gyokeres deal

Arsenal have been making efforts to increase their commercial revenue in recent years as they look to challenge their Premier League rivals financially.

The Gunners posted a club-record revenue in 2023-24 after their turnover surged from £466.7million to £616.6million.

That was driven by their return to the Champions League and a significant uplift in commercial income, which increased from £169.3million to £218.3million.

Emirates Stadium chiefs are backing Arteta in the transfer market this summer after already agreeing several new additions.

The north London giants have signed Arrizabalaga, Zubimendi, Norgaard and Noni Madueke, with those deals setting them back more than £120million.

Meanwhile, Viktor Gyokeres is also closing in on a move to Arsenal after significant progress has been made with Sporting Lisbon over his £63.5million switch.

Arsenal set sights on signing Real Madrid star

In terms of another potential incoming, recruitment expert Mick Brown told Football Insider Arsenal remain interested in signing Rodrygo this summer.

There is a growing feeling the Brazil international could be allowed to leave Real Madrid as Xabi Alonso looks to head in a new direction.

However, Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of the winger as Liverpool have also been linked with Rodrygo in recent weeks.
