Exclusive: Aston Villa have 12 days to complete big-name sale – Martinez, Tielemans, Onana
Aston Villa must make a sale within the next 12 days to comply with the profit and sustainability (PSR) regulations, sources have told Football Insider.
Monchi, Villa’s president of football operations, is working around the clock to secure a big-name exit by the 30 June cut-off.
Emiliano Martinez, Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana are among the first-team stars who could be offloaded for the kind of money that would enable the West Midlands giants to avoid a financial breach and a potential points deduction.
Martinez is regarded as the most likely player to leave after he’s been heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks.
Former Villa Park chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider Manchester United are set to accelerate their interest in Martinez.
The Argentina international, who is under contract until 2029, has spent five successful years with Villa since joining from Arsenal for £20million in 2020.

Aston Villa have PSR shortfall as deadline looms
Villa have faced PSR issues over the past couple of years after spending close to the allowable losses limit.
Under the PSR rules, top-flight clubs are only permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
Villa posted a club-record revenue in 2023-24 after their turnover increased from £217.7million in 2022-23 to £275.7million, while their losses fell from £119.6million to £85.4million.
Douglas Luiz, Tim Iroegbunam and Omari Kellyman all moved on before last year’s 30 June accounting deadline to help them avoid a spending breach.
Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Villa have a PSR shortfall again this season despite putting together another strong campaign, having finished sixth in the Premier League table.
Unai Emery’s side now have 12 days to complete a sale as they look to comply with the PSR rules.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers plan revealed after Arsenal swoop
Villa are planning to turn down offers for Morgan Rogers as they look to keep hold of the attacker this summer.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, but Emery’s side are “confident” he will remain at Villa Park.
The England international, who joined the club in a £15million deal from Middlesbrough in January 2024, registered 14 goals and 15 assists in 54 appearances in the 2024-25 season.
