Exclusive: Aston Villa set sights on signing David Moller Wolfe
Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Wolves defender David Moller Wolfe ahead of the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Unai Emery is in the market for a new left-back amid concerns about the long-term future of Lucas Digne, who turns 33 next July.
Digne signed a new deal at Villa Park in August to extend his stay until 2028, but the Midlands giants are planning to strengthen in his position, and Wolfe is high on their list.
The 23-year-old joined Wolves in the summer on a deal until 2030, but their miserable Premier League season has led to suggestions he could leave, placing clubs on alert.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 16 December that Brighton are plotting a move for Wolfe, who will become available if Wolves are relegated.

Aston Villa plot swoop to sign David Moller Wolfe
Wolves are expected to lose a number of key players barring a miraculous survival, with their relegation all but guaranteed after less than half of the season.
Rob Edwards‘ side have picked up just two points from 17 games and are already 16 points shy of survival as their rivals continue to extend the distance.
Despite their disastrous form, however, Wolfe is among a few players who have impressed potential suitors and could be primed for a summer departure.
He has quickly become one of the first names on the team sheet for Edwards, who has started him in all six Premier League games since he took the reins.

However, with Villa now among the leading contenders for his signature, it is believed the full-back would jump at the chance to swap a relegation scrap for European football.
Wolves braced to lose their best players next summer
Wolfe is not the only player eyeing a move away from Molyneux as a result of this season’s meltdown, with multiple key players likely to push for the exit door.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in October that Wolves fear losing their best players as a result of what has been a dismal season.
Among those linked with a move away is Joao Gomes, who has been a crucial player in the heart of the Wolves midfield but could soon be tempted away.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in January that Liverpool and Man United were keeping tabs on Gomes, before he signed a new deal at Wolves.
Meanwhile, Jorgen Strand Larsen has long-term admirers thanks to his displays last season and could quit after missing out on a move to Newcastle in the summer.
