Darren Bent claimed Celtic would be the perfect destination for Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Spurs attacker admitted Wanyama was happy at the Hoops and only left because he had to test himself in the Premier League.
While Bent admitted a move back to Celtic would be perfect for Wanyama, he did wonder if the Hoops would be willing to pay £10million to get him.
When asked if Celtic would be the perfect destination for Wanyama, Bent told Football Insider: “He was happy there and I get he had to come to Southampton to test himself in the Premier League but listen it’d be perfect for him to go back.
“But it’s whether Celtic will want to pay £10million for him as that still seems a lot for them to pay.
“But listen he’ll have options as that holding midfield role is a speciality, not just anyone can do that.
“For me, if he does become available, which he will, he’ll have no shortage of takers.”
Wanyama has featured just four times for Spurs this season with the midfield enforcer only being allowed to complete 90 minutes in his EFL Cup outing.
The 28-year-old previously played for the Hoops 91 times before leaving the Scottish giants to join Southampton in July 2013.
In other Celtic news, Darren Bent guarantees that ‘Brilliant’ Hoops player will seal an exit in January.
