Darren Bent has claimed Fikayo Tomori would be a “great signing for Leeds United” in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England striker revealed is a big admirer of the Chelsea centre-back and is in no doubt he could stiffen United’s leaky defence.
United were walloped 6-2 by Man United on Sunday and have let in 30 goals from 14 matches in the Premier League this season, more than any other club.
Football Insider revealed last week that Leeds are keeping tabs on Tomori as they look a a potential loan deal for the second half of the season.
Bent is in no doubt about the calibre of the 22-year-old England international, who has been on the fringes at Chelsea this season.
He told Football Insider: “I really like Tomori, I thought he would have been given more game time but he hasn’t, but yeah, that’d be a great signing for Leeds.
“You’d get someone who is comfortable on the ball, very, very quick, I like him, he’s young, an international and very, very good.
“For me, perfect. If they can get him on loan until the end of the season that’d be superb, I think he’d be a very, very welcome addition, so I’d be all for that.”
Leeds once again used Luke Ayling as a makeshift centre-back against Man United, as they had done in their previous two games since losing Robin Koch.
The Germany international has been ruled out until at least March after undergoing knee surgery.
