Exclusive: Blackpool’s Jake Beesley agrees deal with Burton Albion

Blackpool striker Jake Beesley has agreed a deal to join Burton Albion, sources have told Football Insider.

The forward, 28, is set to join the League One club on a two-year deal.

Burton beat off interest from several League One and League Two clubs to land the former Salford and Rochdale man.

Beesley started just three league games for Steve Bruce’s side last season, as well as making 19 substitute appearances.

Jack Beesley set to undergo Burton Albion medical

Beesley ended last season well down the pecking order at Blackpool, after managing just one league goal throughout the entirety of the campaign.

The 28-year-old is now set to make the switch to Burton, who are coming off the back of a 20th-placed finish in League One.

He will undergo a medical before completing the transfer.

Gary Bowyer’s side avoided relegation by just a single point in the end, and are looking to build ahead of another campaign in the third tier.

Albion have been a League One side since their relegation from the Championship in 2018, but have been forced to fight for their place in the division in recent years.

Blackpool sign Honeyman

Meanwhile, Blackpool have announced the signing of George Honeyman after Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (24 June) that they were set to win the race for his signature.

Honeyman, 30, has chosen to leave Millwall for Blackpool despite being offered a new deal at The Den.

A number of English and overseas clubs had shown an interest in former Sunderland man Honeyman.

However, League One side Blackpool have completed a deal and the midfielder will line up for Steve Bruce’s side next term.
