Exclusive: Bournemouth star escapes red card as ‘reckless’ Man United footage analysed
Bournemouth star Tyler Adams avoided a red card against Man United as his challenge did not meet the criteria for serious foul play, Keith Hackett has explained.
The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official exclusively told Football Insider that the challenge was “reckless” rather than dangerous and was a clear yellow card.
In a game which was marred by a controversial refereeing performance, Man United were able to snatch a point thanks to a 96th-minute Rasmus Hojlund strike.
With the points shared, United have moved above Everton into 14th place, with their focus now set on their upcoming Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, remain one point behind both Brighton and Fulham in the race to qualify for the Europa Conference League.

Tyler Adams controversy dismissed after refereeing error
Adams was on the receiving end of a yellow card after the referee deemed his challenge had not been serious enough to warrant a sending-off.
Replays showed the midfielder had gone into the challenge with both feet, winning the ball, but it was the strength behind the challenge which led to suggestions it may have been dangerous.
VAR reviewed the incident behind-the-scenes, but decided the on-field official had made the correct call and sided with the initial decision.
This came during a match full of controversy, as Evanilson was sent off in a decision described as “unbelievable”, calling into question the official’s performance.
Following that incident, Hackett claimed Bankes was “out of his depth” and insisted his poor decision-making was “not good enough” at Premier League level.

Hackett insists Peter Bankes must improve after Man United decision
Hackett explained that the U.S.A. international remained in control of his challenge and while it was a clear yellow card, calls for a red card would fall on deaf ears.
However, he has insisted Bankes should have handled the situation better as his lack of decisiveness added to the confusion around the award of a yellow card.
“The challenge by Tyler Adams in the Bournemouth v Manchester United game should have seen the referee stop the play immediately and issue a yellow card for a reckless challenge.
“It seemed that he didn’t fully recognise the challenge and was going to let the game go, but suddenly stopped and came back to it rather late.
“It was reckless and didn’t quite fulfil the law for serious foul play.
“It was low down, and in the process of making the sliding challenge, he managed to have some degree of control with his right foot on the floor.
“So it’s not a red, it’s a clear yellow, but the referee could have handled it better.”
