Exclusive: Brendan Rodgers could quit Celtic and return to Premier League club
Brendan Rodgers could quit Celtic this summer in favour of a return to the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Rodgers is hoping he will be backed in the transfer market after being left disappointed last summer and in January.
The 52-year-old plans to take Celtic to the next level and wants to be as ambitious as possible in the Champions League with the board’s support.
Sources say the manager is content at Parkhead as things stand, but could have his head turned by Premier League interest with top-tier clubs believed to be keeping tabs on his situation.
He previously left Celtic Park in 2019, having won three consecutive Scottish Premiership titles, to take the job with Leicester City.
Celtic are determined to keep hold of Rodgers and want to keep him happy at the club but plan to continue doing financially-sound business.

Brendan Rodgers expects Celtic backing in summer transfer window
Industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider on 1 April that Rodgers could walk away from Celtic this summer amid growing frustrations at Parkhead.
The boss expects to be backed this summer after losing Kyogo Furuhashi in the January window without bringing in a replacement for the star striker.
However, if his desires to become competitive in Europe on top of their dominance in Scotland are not supported by the board, he could explore a new opportunity.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 31 March that Celtic are set to hold talks with Rodgers in the off-season to discuss his future.

Brendan Rodgers eyes deal to sign Callum McGregor replacement
With Rodgers already planning to strengthen his squad next season, potential deals are being eyed by the recruitment team ahead of the summer window.
Football Insider revealed that Celtic want to sign Augsburg midfielder Elvis Rexhbecaj as the manager views him as the ideal replacement for Callum McGregor.
McGregor remains an important part of Celtic’s plans as club captain, but concerns have risen about a drop in quality when the 32-year-old is not in the side.
Meanwhile, Celtic have been urged to sign Lennon Miller from Motherwell in a deal which could be worth up to £8million amid rival interest from Lyon.
