Exclusive: Brentford reject Fabio Carvalho offer from Lyon

Brentford have rejected a loan offer from Lyon for winger Fabio Carvalho, sources have told Football Insider.

Carvalho only joined Thomas Frank’s side in the summer transfer window when he signed from Liverpool for £27.5million (BBC Sport).

He has however endured a difficult time with the Bees and European clubs are now looking to take advantage of that situation in the final days of the winter transfer window.

Brentford respond to Fabio Carvalho loan approach from Ligue 1

The Portuguese attacker is yet to establish himself as a regular for Brentford, starting just three Premier League games this season (Soccerway).

Even when he has got on the pitch he has produced some underwhelming performances, which has led to clubs testing the Bees resolve over his situation for the remainder of the season.

It is understood that Lyon have made an offer to take the 22-year-old on loan for the remainder of the campaign, but that bid has been dismissed.

Lyon are currently seventh in Ligue 1, and have also qualified automatically for the last 16 of this season’s Europa League.

As well as the French side, a number of other clubs around Europe are also monitoring the situation of the Brentford winger ahead of the window closing on Monday (3 February).

Carvalho is yet to find form since leaving Liverpool for Brentford

Carvalho signed a five-year contract with Brentford last summer, securing his future with the club until the end of the 2028/29 season.

He is not the only player at the club who is the subject of interest from elsewhere, though Football Insider understands they have no intention of letting striker Yoane Wissa leave before the deadline.

The Bees currently sit 11th in the Premier League table ahead of their clash with Tottenham on Sunday (2 February).
