Exclusive: Brentford well placed to agree multiple deals after confirmed news

Brentford are well placed to agree new commercial deals following the latest investment at the Gtech Community Stadium, sources have told Football Insider.

UK-based South African businessman Gary Lubner and English filmmaker Matthew Vaughn have bought a minority stake in Brentford’s parent company.

The deal is believed to value the club, which is owned by Matthew Benham, at around £400million.

It is understood the investment will help strengthen the Bees’ transfer budget this summer following multiple exits.

Vaughn, who founded MARV Studios, is best known for producing films such as the Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Meanwhile, Lubner is the founder of This Day Foundation and the former chief executive of vehicle glass repair firm Belron.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football InsideBrentford have exploited their location close to Heathrow following the latest investment in the club.

Sources say the investment will allow the Bees to tap into new commercial opportunities through Vaughn and Lubner’s contacts and expertise.

Tottenham race Newcastle to sign Brentford star

Brentford’s accounts for 2023-24 showed their revenue remained static at £166.5million, while they made a £7.9million loss after recording a £9.2million profit in 2022-23.

However, the Bees’ commercial income improved from £20.1million to £20.7million across the same period.

The Premier League side are facing a hugely important few weeks ahead of the start of the new campaign after losing several key figures this summer.

Former manager Thomas Frank joined Tottenham as their new boss last month, with Keith Andrews appointed as his successor in west London.

Elsewhere, star players Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken have all left the club in recent weeks.

Yoane Wissa has also been heavily linked with a Brentford exit, with Tottenham, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest believed to be in the race for his signature.
