Brighton goalkeeper Christian Walton is set to undergo a Blackburn Rovers medical after the clubs agreed the terms of a loan deal, Football Insider understands.

Blackburn have been in the market for a new goalkeeper after selling David Raya to Brentford earlier this summer and they have moved for the Seagulls man.

A Rovers source has told Football Insider that Brighton have accepted their offer of a season-long loan for Walton, 23, and he is heading to Ewood Park to finalise the transfer.

Walton is highly rated at Brighton, but he has been unable to hold down a regular spot in the first team as Mat Ryan the undisputed No.1 at the club/

The keeper has enjoyed two successful loan spells at Wigan in the last two seasons, helping them win promotion to the Championship in his first season and then playing a key role in them staying up last term.

Brighton are happy to loan out Walton again so that he can continue his development by playing regular first-team football next season.

The plan for him is to then before return to the Amex Stadium to challenge for a place in the first XI.

In other Blackburn Rovers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set their sights on newly-available player after Aston Villa exit.
