Exclusive: Bristol City manager Liam Manning could be sacked next
Bristol City boss Liam Manning is in danger of the sack after overseeing just one win so far this season, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that pressure is building on the 39-year-old following two consecutive 3-0 Championship defeats to Derby and Blackburn.
Manning took over from Nigel Pearson in November of last year having had impressive spells at MK Dons and Oxford United.
There were several changes at Bristol City over the summer, with long-time servant Andreas Weimann left to join Blackburn on a free transfer and striker Tommy Conway signing for Middlesbrough in a £4.5million deal.
With an expenditure of £8.7million, Manning was able to bring in Scott Twine, Fally Mayulu, and Sinclair Armstrong as they seek to push for a top-half finish.
Liam Manning could be on Bristol City chopping block
Manning’s spell at Bristol City is currently his worst as a manager, with a win percentage of just 32 per cent, winning 13, drawing 12, and losing 16.
The club currently sits in 17th place, with their only win of the season so far coming on matchday two, a 4-3 victory over Millwall.

They were also eliminated in the first round of the League Cup by Coventry thanks to a 65th-minute strike from forward Ellis Simms.
City next face Manning’s old club Oxford United in the Championship as they seek to pick up their first win in three games.
