Branislav Ivanovic would be a “magnificent signing” for West Brom this summer, according to Michael Brown.
The former Leeds and Manchester City midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he was blown away when he investigated what the Serbian defender had achieved during his time in England.
Bilic confirmed at his pre-match press conference on Friday that a deal for the 36-year-old was “very close” and that he would be a “great signing” for the Baggies.
As quoted by the Express and Star, Bilic revealed that was wanted to add the veteran defender to bolster his options at centre-back.
Brown has been left raving over the former Chelsea star’s “incredible” achievements and believes his experience could be huge for the Baggies this season.
Brown told Football Insider: “I remember doing something looking at team of the decade and you started looking at what he’d done – it was incredible looking at what he’d won and what he’d been around.
“A magnificent signing, you need that experience and that is talking an aura when he walks in West Brom’s dressing room.”
Ivanovic played a total of 261 times in the Premier League during his time at Chelsea and has a total of 377 appearances to his name for the Blues.
He won three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup, one Europa League and one Champions League trophy at Stamford Bridge.
