Don't waste away on bench - Exclusive: Bruce delivers transfer warning to Leeds star
Alex Bruce has urged Leeds United loanee Ben White to make sure he is playing regular first-team football if he moves clubs in the summer.
The former Leeds and Republic of Ireland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists that the 22-year-old cannot be wasting away on the bench next season after his impressive loan spell from Brighton.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, scouts from Premier League leaders Liverpool have been dazzled by the centre-back’s performances in the Championship this season.
With a potential transfer on the horizon, Bruce has warned the Whites’ loan ace that playing football has got to be his number one priority ahead of next season.
Bruce told Football Insider: “He’ll have a big decision to make. Ultimately the biggest one for him, if you’re asking for my opinion and the advice I would give for someone like him, is go somewhere where you’re going to play.
“The thing he doesn’t want to do is have a full season playing, get a decent little reputation and then go and sit on someone’s bench, like at Anfield or somewhere.

“Keep playing, keep building your reputation – that’s my advice to him.”
White has played just twice for Brighton’s first team after coming through the youth ranks on the south coast.
He has 40 Leeds appearances under his belt, while he has also spent time on loan with Newport County and Peterborough United during his fledgeling career.
In other Leeds United news, it can be revealed the board have taken a dig at a former player in an official document.
