Alan Hutton believes Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham will be unable to resist the “massive” lure of joining Southampton in the Premier League this summer.

The former Rangers and Scotland full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists he has seen enough of the 24-year-old to know he will be a success in England’s top flight.

As revealed by Football Insider, the Saints have set their sights on signing the French midfielder this summer amid doubts over the future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

In a new twist, this site has since detailed how the Bhoys have slapped a £12million asking price on Ntcham’s head, having signed for £4.5million in 2017.

Hutton believes a move to the south coast will be hugely tempting and suggests the Hoops ace will be keen to reunite with former midfield teammate Stuart Armstrong.

Hutton told Football Insider: “He’s definitely got the ability to play down there, I think he’s a classy player.

“He’s always one of the standout players when he plays against Rangers so to see him with a link away, it doesn’t surprise me.

“He’s done really well, yes, he’s been in and out but I think Celtic have got that many options, we’ve spoken about the strength in depth so they’ve been able to rotate players.

“I think the call of the Premier League would be massive, he’s still a young player so I think it would be a move that he would like.”

Ntcham has 123 appearances under his belt for Celtic but has not been a regular in the starting XI for Neil Lennon.

He has started 17 of the Bhoys’ 30 Premiership games this season, with four goals and two assists under his belt.

In other Celtic news, the club have been tipped to seal Frimpong-style deal after offer made.
