Exclusive: Celtic ready to sign Luis Palma replacement

Celtic will sign a replacement for out-of-favour winger Luis Palma if he leaves the club in this window, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (6 January) that the Hoops are reluctant to weaken their squad amid interest in the 24-year-old.

Clubs in Italy and Spain have enquired about Palma’s availability in a bid to kick off negotiations over a move for the Honduras international.

Celtic are unwilling to weaken their squad depth by allowing Palma to go without a replacement.

The uncertainty over his future is likely to continue up to the 3 February deadline as the Hoops explore potential upgrades in his position.

Celtic have money available for reinforcements and are weighing up potential opportunities as the January window unfolds.

Palma has dropped down the pecking order at Parkhead under Brendan Rodgers in the 2024-25 campaign.

He has started just twice for the Hoops this term amid nine appearances across all competitions.

Daizen Maeda has been the undisputed first choice in the left wing role for Rodgers with Celtic going strong in the Scottish Premiership and Champions League.

Palma joined Celtic from Greek side Aris in August 2023 for a reported fee of around £3.5million.
