Exclusive: Celtic working on Kieran Tierney pre-contract deal

Celtic are working on a deal to sign Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney on a pre-contract deal in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Scottish giants “would love” to lure the 27-year-old away from the Gunners.

The Scotland international is going to be a free agent next summer unless he signs a contract extension, which has led to questions about his future at the Premier League club.

A deal could be agreed to let Tierney move on in January, but Celtic could wait until the summer and sign their former left-back on a free transfer.

The Hoops will be able to agree to a pre-contract agreement with Tierney in January which would allow the deal to be secured ahead of summer.

Tierney returning to the club would be seen as a very popular signing with the Celtic faithful should they be able to bring him back.

Kieran Tierney is interested in a Celtic move

Football Insider revealed that Tierney is set to turn down offers from other interested clubs in favour of returning to his boyhood team, Celtic.

Multiple clubs are monitoring his situation right now, and the Gunners are expected to be open to possible loan moves which would lead to the expiration of his contract.

Tierney made 170 appearances during his previous stint at Parkhead and became the club captain before being sold for a then-Scottish record of £25milloin.

Brendan Rodgers applauds Celtic fans

Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster his squad to ensure that they’re capable of competing on all fronts.

Tierney brings plenty of European experience from his career which would be beneficial to Celtic.
