Exclusive: Championship clubs race to sign Callum Slattery from Motherwell
Motherwell star Callum Slattery is attracting interest from a number of English Championship and League One clubs, sources have told Football Insider.
The 27-year-old is out of contract this summer and interested clubs outside of Scotland are exploring moves to land the former Southampton midfielder.
His availability on a pre-contract deal has placed a number of clubs on alert and they are now set to battle it out for his signature over the coming months.
Slattery has been influential in Motherwell‘s impressive form this season and chipped in with three assists in their dominant 5-0 win against St Mirren.
Championship clubs plot move to sign Callum Slattery
Motherwell have been hopeful of keeping Slattery at the club thanks to his impressive performances and crucial role in the success they’ve had this season.
He remains an important part of their plans for the remainder of the season, where they remain just four points behind Celtic, six behind Rangers and ten behind Hearts.
However, interest in a return to English football could see him walk away for free as he eyes a return to the Championship or League One.
Watching scouts have been impressed by the midfielder, who has made 29 appearances so far this season, scored two goals and picked up nine assists.
Motherwell brace for offers for multiple key players
Slattery is not the only Motherwell star attracting interest from a number of top clubs after what has been a stunning season so far at Fir Park.
Both Celtic and Rangers are among the clubs who are believed to have been keeping an eye on the progress of Tawanda Maswanhise so far this season.

Football Insider revealed on 12 February that Motherwell will listen to offers for Maswanhise in the summer despite firmly refusing talk over his exit in the mid-season window.
The forward has scored 19 goals and provided two assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this season and is now receiving high-profile interest.
Despite having hoped to keep hold of their best players beyond the end of the season, Motherwell may be forced to lose at least one major star.
