Exclusive: Chelsea make Dewsbury-Hall available for January transfer

Chelsea have made Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall available for transfer in the January window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke has revealed that the Blues will listen to offers for the midfielder despite him having arrived in last summer’s window.

This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Premier League clubs are lining up offers for the 26-year-old.

Rangers had also expressed an initial interest, but are unlikely to have the financial muscle to get them out of Stamford Bridge in January.

Dewsbury-Hall’s availability is said to have put clubs on alert ahead of the January transfer window and they are now prepared to move for his signature.

The midfielder moved to Chelsea from Leicester in the summer in a deal worth £30million, but has made juts five league appearances so far.

He has featured 13 times across all competitions, but averages just 52 minutes per game, with all of his seven starts coming in the Europa Conference League and EFL Cup.

Chelsea open to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall offers in January

Dewsbury-Hall was one of a number of players who were all but banished from Enzo Maresca’s plans for his Premier League squad this season.

As a result, sources say he has grown frustrated with his lack of first-team football at Stamford Bridge and would be open to a move elsewhere after just six months.

Chelsea are expected to demand at least the £30million fee they paid to bring the midfielder to West London in the summer if they are to let him leave permanently.

However, a loan deal may also be on the cards if the player pushes for a way out and no clubs come forward with permanent offers.

Given recent concerns surrounding the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, there have been questions about whether clubs could afford his asking price mid-way through the season.

Aston Villa are among the leading clubs interested in his signature and are now expected to push forward with their interest when the transfer window opens.

However, Football Insider revealed on 15 November that the Blues are reluctant to sell players to a potential rival for Champions League qualification.
