Exclusive: Cole Palmer FIFA sanction update after expletive Chelsea interview
Cole Palmer’s post-match interview could see Chelsea receive a formal warning from FIFA, according to Keith Hackett.
The former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official exclusively told Football Insider that the competition could take issue with the star’s use of language, but stated that no further action should be taken.
With two goals and an assist, the 23-year-old was rightly crowned Man of the Match on Sunday, 13 July, leading Enzo Maresca‘s side to their second major trophy in as many months.
Premier League stars are often expected to have more personality when speaking with the media, but after a lot of training behind the scenes, answers to questions can become predictable.

When questioned by Kelly Somers about the project being built at Stamford Bridge, Palmer used an expletive when discussing rival fans’ opinions, going on to say that Maresca is building something huge.
With emotions running high, especially after Luis Enrique’s lashing out at Joao Pedro, the young star did not have concerns over swearing on live television, but Hackett has commended the player’s passion.
As previously stated, media-trained footballers are often called out for their boring answers, but as soon as players begin to show their personality, such as Tottenham’s James Maddison, they are also slammed.
Liam Delap and Pedro are set to be joined by Jamie Gittens ahead of next season, lowering the average age of the squad, one which is already massively ambition-driven and eager to win trophies.

Keith Hackett wants Chelsea to go unpunished
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former referee said: “This idea of half-time and post-match interviews with players, in fairness to Sky, they give a break for the players, we’ve got to think about the players’ emotions.
“You get what you get. With TV, just have the suppress button or have a delay of a few seconds. This is me knocking the ball back over the wall to the media, telling them to get their house in order so that the system has delayed transmission of these interviews.

“I don’t think Chelsea or Cole Palmer should be fined. They might receive a letter warning about training the players, but it’s passion, isn’t it? Let’s not suppress passion.”
