Exclusive: Crystal Palace make Adam Wharton January transfer decision
Crystal Palace are in no rush to wrap up Adam Wharton’s contract talks as they will not sell the midfielder in January, sources have told Football Insider.
Oliver Glasner’s side have reportedly opened negotiations with the 21-year-old regarding a new deal.
Sources say that the Palace are eager to reward Wharton for his rapid development over the past year.
However, the Eagles don’t feel that they need to complete talks before the transfer window reopens, as the England international is not for sale regardless of his contract situation.

Adam Wharton linked with Premier League giants
As a result of his superb performances this season, speculation has increased regarding Liverpool’s interest in Wharton.
The likes of Manchester United have also been linked with the former Blackburn Rovers man as they aim to solve their midfield issues.
However, Crystal Palace have stayed strong on their stance that he is not for sale, and any movement in January would be highly unlikely.
Wharton’s current contract at Selhurst Park already runs until 2029, but the Eagles are now set to give the midfielder a new deal, with a big pay rise, to recognise his importance to the side.
Crystal Palace eye new contract for another star player
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are also expected to hand Jean-Philippe Mateta a new contract at some point this season.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that the France international remains a crucial part of Glasner’s long-term plans.
Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Crystal Palace could be forced to accept offers for Mateta if he does not commit to a new deal at Selhurst Park.
However, the Eagles remain determined to tie the striker down to an extended contract and are planning to open talks with his entourage before the end of the season.
