Exclusive: Daniel Farke could quit Leeds in astonishing new twist

Daniel Farke could walk away from Leeds United if doubts over his future persist, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Farke may be “unhappy with the speculation surrounding his future” and could choose to step down himself.

He added that “a number of clubs” would be interested in appointing the German, particularly in the Championship, where he boasts a proven promotion record.

Despite currently sitting at the top of the Championship table and having already guided Leeds back to the Premier League, Farke has still come under pressure ahead of the 2025/26 season.

However, after the dominant 4-0 win over Bristol City on 28 April, Leeds fans made their support for Farke clear, sending a strong message amid ongoing speculation.

The German coach has a poor record in the Premier League, having suffered relegation twice with Norwich and holding just a 12% win rate in the top flight.

However, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Farke is expected to remain at Elland Road, with chairman Paraag Marathe prepared to back him heading into next season.

Marathe is understood to be a strong supporter of the coach and believes he could develop into one of Europe’s top coaches if given the financial support this summer.

It appears the hierarchy are ready to show that backing, as Football Insider revealed the Leeds are targeting up to six new signings ahead of their Premier League return.

While Leeds are expected to strengthen across several areas, one of the top priorities is set to be the goalkeeper position.

Illan Meslier was recently dropped following a string of costly errors, despite receiving public backing from Farke for much of the season.

Football Insider revealed that Leeds are eyeing a move for Aaron Ramsdale after getting relegated with Southampton and are also targeting Wolves keeper Sam Johnstone after an underwhelming campaign at Molineux.

If Farke is to be fully backed in the transfer window, bringing in a new goalkeeper may be one of the first major steps in Leeds’ top-flight rebuild.
