Danny Mills fears even an £80million price tag would not be enough to stop Wolves striker Raul Jimenez leaving if Real Madrid came knocking.

The former England international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested the Wanderers will be powerless if the 28-year-old wants to leave for the La Liga giants this summer.

According to Spanish reports, the striker is being lined up as the potential heir to Karim Benzema at Real Madrid.

Mills claimed rumours linking the Mexico international with the La Liga giants are a testament to how good the player has become.

“He is playing incredibly well in the Premier League,” he told Football Insider.

“He is a very good player, it is as simple as that. Without a doubt he deserves to be linked to some of the top clubs in Europe. It is of no real surprise that that is happening. A fabulous player with a lot of ability.

“Wolves do not want to sell him so any transfer would be north of £80million – it is all relative to who else is available.

“It depends on how desperate Real Madrid are and how much they want him. The fee is irrelevant. If they want him and he wants to go often these deals happen. Real always seem to find some money!

“It will be very interesting to see what happens this summer.”

Jimenez has enjoyed another successful campaign at Molineux scoring 22 goals and providing 10 assists in his 44 appearances.

The former Benfica forward was signed permanently last July following a successful loan with the Wanderers the season prior.

In other Wolves news, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider potential summer signing hinges on season’s conclusion.
