Exclusive: Danny Mills frets over 'Huge' Leeds problem v Forest
Danny Mills insists that filling the void left by the absent Kalvin Phillips against Nottingham Forest is a “huge” problem for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Leeds and England defender says that the 24-year-old was clearly a miss in the 1-0 defeat to Wigan last weekend and he worries how the issue will be sorted for Saturday’s showdown.
Phillips will sit out his third match of a three-game ban against Forest after being sent off for a dangerous challenge in the defeat to Queens Park Rangers.
Having watched his old side toil without their midfield talisman against the Latics at Elland Road, Mills says Bielsa has to find a way to plug the gap at the City Ground.
“With Phillips still suspended, that’s a bit of a blow in the midfield,” Mills told Football Insider.
“They’ve had a week, they looked a bit jaded against Wigan, it’s a huge game, they battered Forest early on in the season, absolutely battered them and conceded a poor goal, that was a scruffy goal as well.

“It depends on who plays in midfield, what he does in that area. He’s obviously going to have to switch that around without Kalvin Phillips who is vital. As much as Dallas did alright the other day, they have huge holes at times.
“There were times where White, Ayling and Cooper were left at the back and there was a huge gap, 30, 40 yards in the middle of the pitch, a huge gap that Kalvin Phillips usually sits there and patrols. Without his discipline in that area, Leeds look vulnerable, especially on the counter-attack.”
Phillips had missed just one Championship game this season prior to his sending off against QPR, with a total of 30 appearances under his belt across all competitions.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club chiefs believe one man has played his last game at Elland Road.
