Exclusive: Darren Bent has dig at Sheffield United as he issues Leeds transfer blueprint
Darren Bent has warned Leeds United not to follow in the footsteps of Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United when recruiting for a new striker this summer.
The former Tottenham and England hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists a new centre-forward is a must for Marcelo Bielsa but they should only sign one or two.
Leeds currently have two senior strikers on their books in the shape of Patrick Bamford and Jean-Kevin Augustin, the latter on loan from RB Leipzig.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the Whites have a deal in place to sign the Frenchman for £18million if they are promoted this season.
However, Bent believes a striker has to be a priority on Bielsa’s shopping list, and surprisingly warned them away from copying hgh-flying Sheffield United’s transfer blueprint.
Bent told Football Insider: “Centre-forward is the one they need. Maybe one for now and see how they get on.

“It’s a difficult job scoring goals in the Premier League, some people just can’t do it, they can’t make the step up.
“You don’t really want a Sheffield United situation where at one time or another they’ve had six strikers on their books and none of them have really hit the ground running. They’re still left with a load of strikers.
“Maybe sign a couple but also stick with what you’ve got and see what happens with them.”
Bamford has been the main source of goals for Leeds this season, with 13 Championship strikes under his belt.
Augustin meanwhile is yet to break his duck with just three substitute appearances for the Whites.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED the club are set for a near-£50million announcement.
