Exclusive: Darren Bent claims senior star may scupper Tottenham transfer plans
Darren Bent has suggested that Tottenham defender Danny Rose will scupper any plans the club have to cash in on his sale in the transfer window.
The former Spurs and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the 29-year-old has probably played his last game for the north Londoners but that it does not mean he is going to leave on a whim.
Rose, who has joined Newcastle United for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign, has been very vocal about his frustrations at Tottenham, suggesting manager Jose Mourinho did not give him enough of a chance before his move away.
With the defender previously stating that he would only leave Spurs once his contract comes to an end in 2021, Bent has suggested he could pour cold water on a move which would give the club a healthy transfer fee.
Bent told Football Insider: “You’ve got Tanganga that can play up there, they’ve got Sessegnon, Ben Davies is still tonight so you’d have to say yeah, his time’s probably up.
“These little outbursts that have come out from Danny Rose as well, they’d probably look to (sell) but I don’t think they’re going to cash in because I don’t think Danny Rose is going to allow them to do that.

“He’s not going to allow himself to be sold and make Tottenham money.”
Rose featured just three times in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho, with two Champions League outings the only other appearances during the Portuguese manager’s time in charge.
He made his Newcastle debut against Norwich City, coming off the bench to play 11 minutes.
In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that the club are closing in on a new deal after being rejected.
