Darren Bent claimed Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish is worth at least £50million in today’s market.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Villans attacker claimed Grealish is a ridiculous asset for Dean Smith’s squad to possess.
Bent implied that the Villans could end up in a sticky situation with Grealish as they could be tempted to cash in, in order to easily generate money to bring players in.
When asked how much Grealish could be sold for as he has no release clause, Bent told Football Insider: “They have got a ridiculous asset there.
“And it’s going to be around the £50million mark if not more, but it’s crazy not to have a release clause but it’s tough as with Villa in a relegation battle, come January, what do Villa do?
“As come January they’re going to be in a real sticky situation as if they need to sell players to balance the books, they obviously need to generate money from somewhere and bring players in.”
The 24-year-old has played 19 times this season across all competitions for the Villans, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in the process.
Grealish has risen through the ranks of Villa’s youth academy in order to become one of the first-names on the club’s teamsheet and he is contracted to stay at Villa Park until 2023.
