Exclusive: David Moyes stance on Crystal Palace offer revealed
David Moyes is open to a return to management with Crystal Palace amid growing pressure on Oliver Glasner’s position.
This is according to former Man United and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who worked closely with Moyes at the London Stadium, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the boss would “certainly” listen to an offer from the South Londoners.
Football Insider revealed on 4 October that the Eagles had put contract talks on the back burner after a slow start to the season.
Since then, pressure on his position has continued to grow, and Palace are now winless in their first eight Premier League games.
Having picked up just three points in that time, they have now equalled their record under Frank de Boer and Roy Hodgson at the start of the 2017-18 season.
They also have the worst attacking record in the league, with five goals from those eight games, and a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on 21 October compounded their misery.
As a result, the idea of dismissing Glasner has been floated at Selhurst Park, with Moyes considered a top contender for the job should they pull the trigger.
The former Everton manager’s openness to the opportunity could tempt Palace to explore the possibility of his arrival sooner rather than later as pressure continues to grow.
David Moyes ‘in line’ to take over from Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace
Palace are one of just four teams without a win at this stage, placing them alongside newly-promoted Southampton and Ipswich, while Gary O’Neil is facing sack pressure at Wolves.
Brown, who remains well-connected within the game, insisted that pressure on Glasner comes as no surprise given their start to the season, and claimed Moyes would be in line to take over if the Palace board dismisses him.
“David should be in the game and he’d be an asset to any club,” he told Football Insider.
“With the situation Palace are in, near the bottom of the table, there’s always going to be pressure.
“Whether they sack Glasner or not is a different question, but Moyes is always going to be in line for that job after what he did at West Ham.
“From what I know, he’d certainly listen to an offer if it did arrive, and then it depends on how much he wants to get back into management – but I don’t think that’ll be an issue.
“He’s got connections down there too, so Palace are definitely an option for him.
“I know after he left West Ham he moved back up to around the Blackpool area, away from London.

“But that doesn’t mean to say he wouldn’t be open to moving back down. He obviously still knows people in the area after his time there.
“I know he was keen on the Everton job if that had become available, but it looks, for now at least, like Sean Dyche is safe there.“
In other news, Palace likely to accept cut-price Marc Guehi offer.
