Exclusive: Deadline Day Everton update on Tom Fellows from West Brom
Everton are unlikely to seal a deal for West Brom winger Tom Fellows before the deadline despite showing interest, sources have told Football Insider.
The Toffees had identified the Baggies attacker as a potential signing at the start of the January transfer window, having “been on their radar for a while now”.
It is now not expected that a deal will get done before the deadline closes at 11pm on 3 January.
West Brom had previously turned down a bid of £8million in the summer from Southampton, and Fellows was expected to cost Everton between £15-20million.
Despite profit and sustainability concerns (PSR), sources told Football Insider that the Toffees had the financial capacity to make some late-signings in the winter transfer window.
Everton miss out on Tom Fellows as club attempts to bolster David Moyes squad
Having likely missed out on Fellows, Everton are still in need of a right-winger for David Moyes’ side.
Ernest Nuamah has been linked with a move from Lyon to Goodison Park, but that deal also looks unlikely to happen.
Right-wing is a position of weakness for Everton, with both Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom failing to impress this season.
Moyes has started the on-loan winger from Napoli in the last three games, with Lindstrom being substituted in each appearance.

It is understood that Everton have even considered terminating Harrison’s loan spell at the club, following his poor performances.
The Toffees are also set to miss out on signing Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea, as the former Aston Villa man looks set to join Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
In other news, Everton are doing their homework on a potential signing from Rangers.
