Exclusive: Derby brace for ‘big’ Patrick Agyemang offer as Leeds accelerate deal

Derby County are preparing to receive “big offers” for striker Patrick Agyemang this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Premier League duo Leeds United and Crystal Palace have both continued to keep tabs on the 25-year-old, and are ready to push for a deal if they get an indication that he could be lured away at the end of the season.

Agyemang is under contract at Derby until the summer of 2029, and sources say that they will only consider the idea of letting him go if they receive a truly significant bid for him.

The frontman is likely to be part of the USA’s squad for the upcoming World Cup, and that is expected to see interest in him spike even further if he enjoys a strong tournament.

How much would Leeds need to pay for Patrick Agyemang?

Agyemang has been one of Derby’s key performers under John Eustace so far this term, as he already has 10 goals and three assists, making him the joint top scorer for his team.

The American has hit the ground running in his first campaign in English football, and that has quickly seen him attract prying eyes from the Premier League.

Derby are currently just three points away from the play-off places in the Championship, but if they fail to achieve promotion to the top-flight at the end of the season, then it could see the vultures circle around their star man.

Leeds and Palace are already showing a renewed interest after their previous efforts to land him in January, but both are aware that a deal will not come cheaply for them.

Football Insider revealed in January that Derby currently value the striker around the £20million mark, but that could yet increase if interest continues to mount between now and the end of the season.

Agyemang could replace Joel Piroe at Leeds

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Joel Piroe may find himself forced out of Leeds this summer, amid recent interest from both Rangers and Celtic.

Daniel Farke wants to strengthen his squad at the end of the season in a bid to try and further consolidate their position in the Premier League next term.

Fresh attacking additions appear set to force Piroe further down the pecking order, and that may tempt him to try and push for a move away from Elland Road, after he previously opted against that in the winter.

Agyemang is a clear target for the Whites once again as they eye up their next round of transfer business, and a move for him could spell the final straw for Piroe in West Yorkshire.
