Exclusive: Everton ace Reece Welch could learn loan termination fate this week

Everton defender Reece Welch could have his loan future at crisis club KMSK Deinze resolved this week, sources have told Football Insider.

Cash-strapped Deinze have been on the brink of collapse but the Belgian side are set to learn their fate as they battle to stay in business.

Welch, 21, has made three appearances during his loan at the second-tier outfit and impressed in those outings despite the upheaval and uncertainty.

The club’s main Singaporean investor, ACAFP, abruptly decided to cut off funding of the club at the end of September.

Overdue wages and short-term debts continue to pile up at Deinze with coaches and players both going on strike in protest at the club’s situation.

Welch joined the second-tier club on a season-long loan in September but the precarious financial stability of the club has meant the highly-rated defender has been unable to play as much as he had hoped when he initially made the move to Belgium.

The England Under-20 international saw his start to life in Belgium delayed for several weeks as he waited to be granted a work permit.

Everton have been investigating the situation and that has meant Welch has not been available for the Belgian side in recent weeks.

With coaches and players on strike, Welch has been back in England since last month as he awaits the outcome on the day-to-day running of Deinze.

Football Insider revealed last month (27 November) that the defender is attracting interest from multiple clubs at home and abroad.

Peterborough and Bradford were both interested in Welch in the summer window but could not agree a deal with Everton.
