Exclusive: Everton ready to accept Reece Welch offer as Dundee swoop
Everton are planning to loan out defender Reece Welch before the window shuts, sources have told Football Insider.
Dundee have registered their interest in signing the 20-year-old centre-back.
Welch spent the first half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Forest Green and he is set to be loaned out again to gain valuable first-team experience.
The centre-back has been involved for Everton’s first-team during pre-season, but with the incoming arrival of Jake O’Brien he is set to find himself pushed further down the pecking order.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (28 July) that defender O’Brien will join from Lyon to play alongside Jarrad Branthwaite and not to replace him.
Everton to loan Welch after O’Brien joins
It is believed that Michael Keane is more likely to be sold this summer, while Welch is set to join him in leaving – albeit temporarily.
Welch made 23 appearances for Forest Green in the first half of last term before returning to Everton in January.
The 20-year-old has made two senior appearances for the Toffees, both of which came in cup competition.

He is under contract at Goodison Park until June 2026 after penning his last extension in 2022.
Everton have already sold Amadou Onana, Lewis Dobbin and Ben Godfrey this summer – while Andre Gomes was released at the end of his contract in June.
