Exclusive: ‘Everton set sights on Kyle Walker as he leaves Man City’

Everton are among the Premier League clubs considering a move to sign Man City star Kyle Walker ahead of the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and West Ham scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that David Moyes values the 35-year-old’s experience as a key asset.

While there are concerns about his abilities to perform consistently at this level, there is a feeling that Moyes’ style of play would suit him at this stage of his career.

This comes after Football Insider revealed on 15 June that Walker has “no way back” at Man City after falling out with Pep Guardiola during the January transfer window.

AC Milan opted not to sign the right-back following an unsuccessful loan spell, but a number of Premier League and European clubs are considering their options.

However, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider on 22 April that Walker will need to take a pay cut to leave the Etihad.

David Moyes eyes Kyle Walker swoop at Everton

Brown told Football Insider on 2 June that Walker will likely leave Man City as one of up to seven players being considered as part of a major squad overhaul.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and worked closely with Moyes during his time at West Ham, has insisted the boss could give Walker the opportunity to continue playing in the Premier League.

Man City made the decision to get him off the wage bill,” he told Football Insider.

“He went on loan in January, but he’s come back from there now and they still don’t want him.

“I think David Moyes and Everton, who have problems at full-back and have to find replacements, might decide he’s got enough in his locker to help out.

“They’ve been having a look because Moyesy values that experience he’s got at the top level.

“They won’t be expecting a flying machine up and down the wing, and that’s not how they play.

“So it might be a move that suits him where he’ll be a bit more disciplined in that back line.

“It would only be a short-term deal, I would think.

“Everton are looking for a new right-back, but they have priorities in other positions too, so they may feel they can get Walker for a year and then address it long-term.

“He’s already in that sort of area so it wouldn’t be too much upheaval if he wanted to stick around.”

Jack Grealish update emerges after Man City twist

Alongside the speculation surrounding Walker’s future, Jack Grealish is also widely expected to leave the Etihad in the summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on 13 June that Grealish’s Man City career is “over” as the race to sign him including Premier League, European and Saudi clubs hots up.

The likes of Tottenham, Newcastle, Everton and Aston Villa are keeping tabs on his situation, while Bayer Leverkusen have emerged as new contenders.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 11 June that Grealish would prefer to join Everton ahead of Newcastle and has informed friends of his intentions.
