Exclusive: FC Copenhagen ready to sign Arsenal star Butler-Oyedeji

Arsenal attacker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is a target for Danish side FC Copenhagen on a free transfer, sources have told Football Insider.

Butler-Oyedeji, 22, is out of contract at Arsenal this summer and is yet to sign a new deal.

The forward’s contract situation has alerted clubs at home and abroad to his potential availability, with Football Insider revealing last month (1 April) that Norwich are very interested in signing the Arsenal attacker.

FC Copenhagen are hoping to lure Butler-Oyedeji to Denmark with the offer of regular first-team football – and could offer him Champions League football next season if they win the Danish Superliga.

Copenhagen plan free transfer swoop for Arsenal ace

Butler-Oyedeji, who has been a prolific goal scorer for Arsenal’s Under-21 side this season, made his Champions League and Premier League debut for the club this campaign.

He has made substitute appearances in both competitions and is now a regular feature on the bench for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The London-born ace has also featured 17 times for Arsenal’s Under-21 side this term, scoring 11 goals and notching six assists.

Butler-Oyedeji had previous loan spells with Cheltenham and Accrington – and was the subject of interest from League One outfit Rotherham in the winter transfer window.

Copenhagen, who played Uefa Conference League football this term, sit top of the Superliga by one point ahead of title rivals Midtjylland.

Arsenal plan new Watkins bid

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (2 May) that Arsenal are planning to reignite their bid to sign Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins this summer.

Villa knocked back a £50million offer from the London giants for the 29-year-old in the January transfer window.

Watkins will be on the shortlist of targets as Mikel Arteta’s side look to revolutionise their attack in the off-season.
