Sources: Ex-Celtic midfielder Josh Adam could quit Man City for French club

Man City rising star Josh Adam is a target for Ligue 1 clubs with FC Lorient especially keen on signing him in the summer, sources have told Football Insider

Lorient made a late move in the January transfer window for the 19-year-old but talks began too late for any move to happen for the youngster.

The Scottish midfielder enters the last year of his deal in summer and it is believed he is keen to push on and play at first-team level on a regular basis.

Man City

A straight transfer is the most likely scenario as Adam will be out of contract in June 2024.

Manchester City signed the talented Scot from the Celtic academy in 2020 and he has been a regular feature for the club’s Under-21s side.

However, opportunities have been sparse to break into Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering first team.

Adam is encouraged by the multiple British youngsters who have gone abroad to further their careers. Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Aaron Hickey and Falorin Balogun are some prime examples who have gone on to flourish by heading overseas in their teams.

The midfield talent is excited by the opportunity to play regularly for a first team in a top European league.

With another busy summer expected at City, Adam could be one of a number of youngsters who look to quit in the search of more opportunity.

The Celtic youth product has represented Scotland at Under-21 level and is seen as a superb talent for the future, with expectation he will represent his county at senior level.
