Brentford are set to beat Burnley and Huddersfield to the signing of Scotland youth international Kane O’Connor, Football Insider can reveal.
Hibernian defender O’Connor has enjoyed training stints with all three clubs and held talks with them over potential moves.
A Brentford source has told Football Insider the club have managed to convince the 18-year-old to move to Griffin Park this summer.
O’Connor is highly-regarded at Hibs and although he never broke into the first-team at Easter Road he has been a regular in their development squads.
The Scotland Under-18 captain has impressed for club and country during the last couple of years and his performances have brought him on the radar of several clubs in England.
The source explained that O’Connor has opted to join Brentford as they could offer him a quicker pathway to first-team football and they have a reputation for promoting and developing young talent.
Brentford are now locked in talks with Hibs to try and thrash out a deal for the central defender to allow him to seal his move to the Championship club.
