Exclusive: Hibernian agree to sign Coventry City’s Kai Andrews

Coventry midfielder Kai Andrews has agreed a loan move to Hibernian, sources have told Football Insider.

Hibs have beaten off interest from a number of English clubs to land the 19-year-old, who will make the move north of the border until the end of the season.

The Wales international joined a successful loan spell at Motherwell during the second half of last season and Hibs have moved to bring Andrews back to the Scottish Premiership.

Coventry are pushing for promotion to the Premier League once again under Frank Lampard, but Andrews has been on the fringes of the squad this season, having featured just seven times in the league.

Coventry sanction move for next stage of Kai Andrews’ development

Football Insider recently revealed that Bobby Thomas could be tempted to leave Coventry at the end of the season if the Sky Blues ultimately miss out on promotion.

The Midlands outfit have received interest in several of their key first-team players so far in the January window, and they have already sanctioned the loan departure of Norman Bassette to German side Kaiserslautern.

Andrews now looks set to be the next man out of the door at the CBS Arena, with a move to Hibs now imminent.

David Gray’s side are pushing to secure a top-four finish in the Scottish Premiership and will provide the next step in the youngster’s development in the coming months.

Andrews has come through the youth ranks at Coventry to progress to the edge of their first-team squad, but has received just 53 minutes of league football in the Championship this term.

He remains under contract with Lampard’s side until the summer of 2028, but he will take the next steps of his journey up in Scotland.

Coventry to hijack Wolves’ move for Jorgen Strand Larsen replacement

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Coventry are chasing a move for Lassine Sinayoko, as they prepare to battle Middlesbrough and Wolves for his signature.

Wolves view the Auxerre striker as a potential replacement for the in-demand Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is attracting plenty of interest from top-flight sides as Monday’s deadline approaches.

Sinayoko has hit six goals in 18 games in Ligue 1 so far this season, and recently impressed for Mali at AFCON, as he found the net three times during his team’s run to the quarter finals.

The Championship’s top two are facing competition from the Premier League for the 26-year-old’s signature, but Lampard and Co. will still be hopeful that they can get a deal done.
