Exclusive: Huddersfield Town make final Joe Savage transfer decision

Huddersfield Town will not be taking their interest in appointing former Hearts sporting director Joe Savage any further, sources have told Football Insider.

The League One club had held talks with Savage as they plotted to overhaul their recruitment team.

But sources have said that the Terriers, who sacked Mark Cartwright at the end of April, have now decided to keep the current recruitment team as it is for this summer’s transfer window.

The West Yorkshire side recently appointed former Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant as their new manager.

Huddersfield end search for recruitment chief

Savage has not been the only man on the club’s radar, as Football Insider exclusively revealed last week (3 June) that Nottingham Forest recruitment chief Ross Wilson had rejected an approach from Huddersfield, who wanted him to oversee their transfer strategy.

Wilson worked for the Terriers between 2012 and 2015, before moving onto roles at Southampton and Rangers, but declined the chance to return to West Yorkshire.

In the midst of the uncertainty concerning the recruitment team, the League One side have already announced four signings this summer.

Football Insider exclusively revealed last Thursday (5 June) that Huddersfield were interested in Joe Low from Wycombe, and the move was confirmed earlier this week (10 June).

Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness, and Sean Roughan have also all completed the switch to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Norwich and Stockport eye Wigan defender

Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Norwich City and Stockport County are eyeing moves for Wigan Athletic defender K’Marni Miller.

Miller, 19, started his career at Guiseley before linking up with Wigan Athletic last September and he has been earning rave reviews after breaking into the Latics first-team.

The exciting left-back made four first-team appearances in his debut season and his potential has alerted both Norwich and Stockport.
