EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Ipswich Town are on the verge of signing Wolves goalkeeper Will Norris, Football Insider can reveal.
An Ipswich source has told Football Insider that Paul Lambert is keen to bring in a new keeper ahead of the new campaign and has agreed a season-long loan deal for the 25-year-old.
This comes after Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo had given the green light for Norris to head to a new team and get regular playing experience.
Norris is third-choice goalkeeper at Wolves behind Rui Patricio and John Ruddy and has found his first-team opportunities limited.
He was handed a brief appearance off the bench by Nuno against Fulham in the penultimate game of the Premier League last season as reward for his hard work in training.
He will now spend the forthcoming campaign in League One after Ipswich’s relegation from the Championship following a miserable 2018-19 campaign.
Norris has made just eight appearances in total for Wolves since signing from Cambridge United in the summer of 2017.
Most of his professional matches have been played in League Two for Cambridge after they were alerted by his performances for Braintree in the National League.
Norris has two years remaining on his Wolves contract.
In other Wolves news, it can be REVEALED that the club have pulled out of the race to sign a big-money player.
