Joe Gomez is set to stay at Liverpool despite interest from AC Milan, sources have told Football Insider.

Just hours before the transfer window shuts at 7pm on Monday, 1 September, the Reds will not sell the defender to Milan.

Meanwhile, Brighton are also interested in Gomez, as Fabian Hurzeler looks to bolster his backline before the transfer window closes.

Arne Slot is facilitating exits as he puts the final touches on his Liverpool squad, while Harvey Elliott is set to join Aston Villa.

Amid their early efforts to retain their Premier League title, Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0 on Sunday, 31 August.

Gomez featured for 11 minutes against the Gunners after replacing the injured Ibrahima Konate.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old is set to stay at Liverpool, with the clock ticking towards the end of the transfer window.
