Exclusive: Leeds back Daniel Farke – this is how long he gets next season

Leeds United look set to stick with Daniel Farke despite speculation about whether he will be backed to lead the side in the Premier League.

Farke has just a 12 per cent win record in the top divison following two relegations from the top tier during his time with Norwich City.

Football Insider revealed on 25 April that Jose Mourinho, Steven Gerrard and Lee Carsley have all been identified as potential replacements for the German.

However, Football Insider later revealed on 26 April that Leeds will back Farke in the transfer market to strengthen their chances of staying up next season.

Now, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains well-connected at Elland Road, told Football Insider that the boss will be given until Christmas to prove himself.

Daniel Farke update emerges at Leeds United

Robinson told Football Insider that Farke will “one million per cent” stay at Elland Road for the start of next season despite the lingering uncertainty.

Club chairman Paraag Marathe is believed to be a fan of Farke and believes he could become one of the top coaches in Europe with financial backing this summer.

Now, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson has explained that the chairman is prepared to back Farke in the Premier League until Christmas, when his situation could be reconsidered.

There’s no way he [Marathe] is sacking the manager,” he told Football Insider.

“He believes in his manager.

“He believes the previous times in the Premier League were with lesser clubs, to be completely honest, without the backing, funding and players.

“He didn’t succeed because the support network around him wasn’t there – Leeds will give him what he needs to succeed in the Premier League.

“So he will get this opportunity until about Christmas.

“That’s what football is like, they’ll back him and give him that opportunity until Christmas, and Daniel Farke will be in charge next season.

Daniel Farke to be backed with six new signings at Elland Road

As part of their plans to back Farke ahead of next season, Leeds are eyeing an ambitious summer transfer window to strengthen their squad.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 15 April that Leeds plan to make six new signings to add Premier League-quality players to their squad.

This comes after Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton are all set to come straight back down following difficult seasons, and Leeds are determined not to suffer the same fate.

Meanwhile, Robinson told Football Insider that Leeds will replace Junior Firpo and Brenden Aaronson amid concerns about their ability to make the step up.
