Leeds United have been told it will cost them £1million to sign Luton defender James Justin this month, Football Insider sources understand.
Leeds have made enquiries for Justin as they look to bring in a new right-back to replace Luke Ayling who will miss the rest of the season through injury.
The Whites have been watching Justin for some time and a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Luton have now informed Leeds that they will need to come up with £1million if they are to tempt them to cash-in on the defender before the close of the transfer window.
Luton are reluctant to lose Justin at this stage of the season as they battle to try and win promotion from League Two, but it remains to be seen if Leeds will firm up their interest with a bid for the England Under-20 international.
Justin is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in the Football League after bursting onto the scene during the 2016/17 season.
The 18-year-old was rewarded with a new deal last summer to keep him at Kenilworth Road until 2020 and he has helped Luton to the top of League Two this season with two goals in 16 appearances.
In other Leeds United transfer news, Football Insider can exclusively reveal Victor Orta is working on a sensational deal to prise a star player from the club’s bitter rivals.
