Leeds United are pushing to beat the transfer deadline to sign Forest Green Rovers central midfielder Jordan Stevens, Football Insider sources understand.
A number of Premier League clubs have been tracking Stevens, but Leeds are hoping to win the race for the talented midfielder on deadline day.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds are in talks with Forest Green as they look to secure a deal for the 17-year-old and a medical is planned for later in the day if they can seal a deal.
Stevens, who has come through the ranks at Forest Green, has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and scored one goal.
Leeds are planning to strengthen their Under-23 squad as they look to develop players for the first-team and they see Stevens as a potential star in the making.
Leeds have made a number of additions to their Under-23 team in recent weeks and they are keen to add Stevens to their ranks before the close of the transfer window.

Football Insider broke the news last week that United were in advanced talks to sign Adam Forshaw from Middlesbrough before any other media, and 48 hours before the transfer was announced.

Football Insider also revealed first that Leeds had agreed a deal to sign striker Sam Dalby from Leyton Orient, with the player then unveiled on Tuesday of this week.

In other Leeds United transfer news, it can be revealed that a player underwent a secret late-night medical at Elland Road on Tuesday.
