Exclusive: Leeds United open talks to sign three more players

Leeds United are in talks to sign three more players before next week’s transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

Following the just-announced signing of Almeria forward Largie Ramazani, the Elland Road recruitment team have moved to address other areas of their team.

They are now working on deals to add a central midfielder, a full-back and a forward to replace Georginio Rutter, who left for Brighton earlier in the window.

Negotiations are believed to be at a preliminary stage, with Football Insider revealing earlier on Friday that Bournemouth’s Max Aarons is one of the top targets.

Daniel Farke has lost key players including Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara alongside Rutter this summer as last season’s first-team squad has been picked apart.

However, the club are now aiming for a busy end to the window as they look to replace the outgoing stars and reinforce their squad.

Leeds have lost a total of 19 players so far this summer – 11 of which were involved in Farke’s squad last season – with only five incomings.

They now have one of the smallest squads in the Championship and have seen several of their most important players walk away to pursue higher ambitions.

This has left the board with plenty of work to do before the transfer window closes on 30 August, amid a scramble to bolster Farke’s side.

A slow start to the season in which they have failed to win any of their three opening games – suffering a loss and two draws – has increased the urgency for new deals.

A midfield partner for Ilia Gruev remains a priority in the closing stages, while finding adequate replacements for Rutter and Gray is seen as crucial to their promotion push.

Meanwhile, Ramazani is viewed as the man to replace Summerville after he joined West Ham, and has left fans excited by what he can bring to the team.

Farke and his recruitment team are already working hard to find replacements for the other departing stars as their aim remains to secure promotion to the Premier League.

In other news, a winner has been named in the race to sign Jonathan Rowe.
