Exclusive: Leeds United prepare £12m bid for Angers star Himad Abdelli

Leeds are preparing to make an offer of around £12million for Angers captain Himad Abdelli, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League new boys have identified Algeria international Abdelli as a top target as they look to bolster their attacking midfield options.

The 25-year-old scored six goals and provided one assist in 32 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, helping them finish 14th in the French top tier.

Abdelli ranks among the very best playmakers in Europe, with the most progressive ball carries in the top seven leagues – level with Liverpool’s record new signing Florian Wirtz with 112 and more than Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.

Leeds set sights on dribble king

Leeds boss Daniel Farke is keen to add more creativity and goals to his midfield as they prepare for life back in the Premier League and he sees Abdelli as a key addition to his plans.

The Yorkshire giants’ scouts have been tracking the 25-year-old for some time and they are now poised to firm up their interest with a serious offer for the playmaker.

Abdelli has spent his entire career in France and joined Angers from Le Havre in July 2022.

He has racked up 173 appearances in the top two tiers of French football and has been a regular scorer since his senior debut in November 2018.

Leeds have already wrapped up deals for Lukas Nmecha and Jaka Bijol in the summer transfer window so far.

Muniz sets stance on Leeds move

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (24 June) that Rodrigo Muniz is content at Fulham amid interest from newly-promoted Leeds United.

Fulham are confident of pricing Leeds out of a move for Muniz, 24, this summer.

The Cottagers have already rejected a bid worth a potential £32million and while the Whites could return with another offer, it is believed only a “huge” package will be accepted.
