Exclusive: Leicester City ready move for manager who’s ‘Nigel Pearson Mk II’
Leicester City are readying a move for Sean Dyche as they prepare for life after Ruud van Nistelrooy, sources have told Football Insider.
Van Nistelrooy, 48, is expected to be sacked at Leicester following his disastrous short reign – with relegation from the Premier League now confirmed.
Leicester have been working behind the scenes to decide on the managerial profile they want as they target an instant return to the top flight.
Dyche, 53, is believed to fit the bill given his proven managerial credentials, promotion-winning CV and style – which is seen as similar to ex-Foxes boss Nigel Pearson.

The Englishman also lives in Northampton and is within close commuting distance of Leicester’s training ground.
Dyche is without a job after he was sacked by Everton earlier this year and replaced with David Moyes.

He spent almost two years at Goodison Park and staved off the threat of relegation last season and in the 2022-23 campaign.
The ex-defender achieved promotion from the Championship with Burnley in the 2013-14 and 2015-16 campaigns.
Dyche won 79 of a possible 171 second-tier games during spells with Burnley and Watford.

Leicester face new PSR ‘problem’
Meanwhile, finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider (11 April) that Leicester have a Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) “problem” this season following their heavy financial losses.
Their losses fell from £90million to £19million in 2023-24, with top-flight clubs permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
Borson revealed Leicester’s PSR issue will fall into the EFL’s hands following their relegation.
Dyche is experienced in navigating financial issues and potential points deductions – with Everton surviving last season despite being docked nine points.
