Exclusive: Liam Rosenior’s stance on Liam Delap exit amid Everton transfer update

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is reluctant to lose Liam Delap this summer amid interest from Everton, sources have told Football Insider.

The Toffees have identified the 23-year-old as an ideal striker target to strengthen their group ahead of next season, but Rosenior will not sanction a sale unless further attacking reinforcements come through the door at Stamford Bridge.

The new boss is set to stand in the way of Everton making a move for Delap, as sources have indicated to Football Insider that he wants three high-quality strikers to choose from for next term.

Delap has started just nine Premier League games for Chelsea since he joined for £30million from Ipswich Town last summer, but it has quickly become clear that they have no intention of forcing him out of the door at the end of the campaign.

How much would Everton need to pay for Liam Delap?

Football Insider revealed last week that Everton would need to spend big in order to land Delap this summer, with Chelsea placing a significant price tag on his head already.

The Blues are under no pressure to sell the frontman as he is under contract in West London until the summer of 2031, and as a result, they would be looking to recoup their initial £30m investment in full.

David Moyes and Everton are desperate to add another forward to their ranks amid ongoing concerns over the long-term future of Beto, while Thierno Barry has experienced inconsistency in his first season in England.

However, it has become clear that a deal to sign Delap will not come cheaply for them by any means, and it will become even more difficult for them with Rosenior not keen on the idea of losing him.

The manager’s stance could even see that price tag raised further in a bid to fend off the interest, and that would seriously test the Merseysiders’ resolve as to how much they actually want the player.

Lucas Bergvall’s stance revealed on Chelsea move

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Lucas Bergvall will not push to leave Tottenham this summer, after they fielded enquiries over his services from both Chelsea and Aston Villa in January.

The Swedish midfielder is understood to be happy in North London despite his team’s recent struggles, and he is also tied down to a significant, long-term contract.

Spurs view him as a key part of their long-term future, and as a result, are not expected to entertain any offers for him this summer, not least from one of their closest rivals in Chelsea.

The Blues have clearly identified Bergvall as a big talent with potential to improve in the future, but for now at least, it appears as though a deal will be out of reach for them.
