Exclusive: ‘Liverpool have £250m to spend as marquee deals ready’
Liverpool will be Premier League champions this season for the first time since 2020 as Arne Slot gets his new Anfield era underway in style.
The Dutch boss succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer (2024) and has found success this term despite being backed with just one signing – the deal for fringe winger Federico Chiesa.
Reds chiefs will be putting plans in place for the upcoming summer window – with eyes on competing in Europe and domestic cup competitions as well as the Premier League next summer.
Liverpool have already wrapped up lucrative two-year contract extensions for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk ahead of the transfer window.
But Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed Reds sources have told him they will have a further £250million to spend.

Liverpool could wrap up ‘three marquee signings’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Liverpool will “splash the cash” and could sign “two or three marquee” players.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (18 April) that Liverpool are closely monitoring Watkins’ situation at Aston Villa as they plot an alternative striker signing to Alexander Isak.
Isak had been the top striker target at Anfield but Newcastle are set to price the Reds out of a move.
Player | Goals |
Mohamed Salah | 32 |
Cody Gakpo | 16 |
Luis Diaz | 15 |
Diogo Jota | 9 |
Darwin Nunez | 7 |
Wyness claimed Liverpool will be a club to watch when the window opens in June.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “My initial thought was that by extending the contracts of Salah and Van Dijk, that will really eat into the budget.
“But speaking to Liverpool contacts, they are saying no – they want to back Arne Slot. There could be two or three seriously marquee signings.
“They’re talking about £250million being available to spend, which would be amazing.
“They’ll be in the Champions League, they won’t have PSR issues – it’s not impossible to see that happening.
“They could be one to watch in this window. They were quiet last summer, Slot wanted to settle in – now, they’re going to back him.
“I think they will splash the cash.”

Nunez ready to accept Saudi offer
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (22 April) Darwin Nunez is open to a Saudi Pro League move this summer as he closes in on a Liverpool exit.
Nunez has been scarcely involved in recent weeks – a clear sign he is not trusted to deliver by Slot, who replaced Klopp last year.
The Uruguay international has made just one start in the Premier League in 2025 and has not featured in the Reds’ last two games.
