Exclusive: Liverpool land £10m windfall

Liverpool are expected to have earned around £10million from their pre-season tour of Asia, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League champions confirmed in March they would be heading to China and Japan as part of their preparations for the new campaign.

Liverpool faced AC Milan in the newly opened Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on 26 July, where they were beaten 4-2.

Arne Slot’s side then came from behind to beat Yokohama F. Marinos 3-1 in Yokohama on 30 July.

Florian Wirtz scored his first goal for the Reds in the fixture, while teen sensation Rio Ngumoha got on the scoresheet alongside Trey Nyoni.

Sources say Liverpool have banked around £10million from their tour of Asia.

The Merseyside giants rounded off their pre-season matches with a double header against Athletic Bilbao at Anfield on Monday (4 August).

They claimed a 3-2 victory in the first game, where multiple first-team players took to the field, while a youthful side won 4-1 in the second match.

Liverpool will now face Crystal Palace in the Community Shield on Sunday (10 August) before getting the defence of their Premier League title underway against Bournemouth on 15 August.

Liverpool set to smash club record

Liverpool recorded a bumper financial year in 2024-25 following their title success, with records likely to be broken again at Anfield.

The Reds posted a record-breaking revenue in 2023-24 after their turnover improved from £594milliion in 2022-23 to £614million.

Their strong financial performance was driven by a significant uplift in commercial revenue, which increased from £272million to £308million.

That figure is only likely to increase as Liverpool could land a £100million payout from their new sponsorship deal with Adidas for next season, having switched shirt suppliers to the German manufacturer from Nike.

Liverpool can keep spending after new reveal

It’s been a busy summer transfer window at Anfield, with multiple new additions arriving through the door.

The Reds have spent around £270million after signing Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Liverpool can keep spending this summer as they look to agree a deal for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

Slot’s side have seen a bid worth £110million plus add-ons rejected for the Sweden international, with Newcastle valuing him at around £150million.
