Exclusive: Liverpool to offer big name in Alexander Isak part-exchange bid
Liverpool will try to tempt Newcastle United by offering striker Darwin Nunez in part-exchange for Alexander Isak this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (16 February) that Isak, 25, is seen as “perfect” and is the “number one centre-forward target” for Slot and the club’s recruitment team.
That is despite his £100million-plus price tag at Newcastle, where he is under contract until June 2028.
Slot is not convinced by Nunez or Diogo Jota and is keen to improve his striking options in the off-season.
Liverpool to offer Darwin Nunez in ‘perfect’ Alexander Isak swap deal
Newcastle want well in excess of £100million for Isak but sources say Liverpool will look to sweeten the deal by including Nunez in a player-plus-cash offer.
The Uruguay international, 25, is valued at around £60million by the Anfield club.
He has scored just six goals and supplied five assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this term, starting in 17 of those outings.

Nunez cost Liverpool a reported fee of £85million after add-ons when he joined the club from Benfica in 2022.
Meanwhile, Isak – who is also a target for Arsenal – joined Newcastle in the same summer for a reported club-record fee of £63million.
He has gone on to score 54 goals in 96 Magpies games, including 19 in 29 in the 2024-25 campaign.
Liverpool ‘very keen’ on signing Tottenham star
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Saturday (15 February) that Liverpool are “very keen” on signing Tottenham star Micky van de Ven this summer.
The Reds want a new centre-back even if Virgil van Dijk signs a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of this season.
Football Insider also revealed on 4 February that Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle are among the sides set to battle it out for England star Marc Guehi.
